ST.THERESA'S CONVENT BOMMID - (1958)

ORIGIN OF THE COMMUNITY :

St. Theresa’s Convent at Bommidi was founded on 15.10.1958 by Rev. Fr. Ligion (who was the founder of our Attur convent).
It was a branch house of Salem till 1968. Soon it became the branch house of Vimalapuri.
In 1976 the Chapel was built for the convent.
In 1976 Kindergarden School was constructed to help the poor children of Bommidi. The children were provided food and clothes too.
In 1980 a needle work section was started to empower the young girls who are jobless. These girls were also given awareness on health education and helped to become self-reliant. In the same year Mother and Child Welfare programme was started.
In 1987 the house became independent from Vimalapuri with its own superior. The sisters always were at the service of the local church.
