Genesis of 20 Convents in Salem Province

MISSION OF THE COMMUNITY :
  • To give Qualitative Education to the Children from the villages.
  • To organize Orientation Programme to the teachers.
  • Pastoral Work – Participation in the Parish Work.
  • To help women to earn their living.
ORIGIN OF THE COMMUNITY :
  • The people of B.Pallipatti requested our sisters at Bommidi to start an English Medium School in their Village. Sr.Mary Vianney and her team approached the Bishop of Dharmapuri Most.Rt.Rev.Dr.Antony Irudaya Raj, SDB. He granted permission to start Matriculation School.
  • Hence in the year 2003 we laid a foundation stone. In the early stages the sisters stayed in the mission of Bommidi and carried out the work to build a Matriculation School to serve the people of the place.
  • Mr.Paramasivam, a great philanthropist of the village along with his son Mr.Pari donated an acre of land to provide water for the students’ on daily basis. They played a key role in starting of the school.
  • On 13th May 2005 the sisters’ quarters was blessed and opened by Most Rev.Dr.Joseph Antony Irudhayaraj the Bishop of Dharmapuri. The sisters began to live in this mission since 2005 making it an independent unit. Sr.Mary Deepa was the first superior of this community.
  • On 28.05.2003 the school building was blessed and inaugurated by Bishop of Dharmapuri and Sr.Mary Vianney the Provincial of Tamil Nadu. Sr. Josephine Therese was appointed as the first Principal of the School.
  • In the year 2019 Sr.Jeya Francis took an initiative to conduct training in Tailoring for the local unemployed women. On an average ten women per month are trained regularly.
