Genesis of 20 Convents in Salem Province
FATHIMA CONVENT KADAGATHUR - (1954)
MISSION OF THE COMMUNITY :
- Health care to the very poor.
- Pastoral activity.
- To serve the differently abled Children.
ORIGIN OF THE COMMUNITY :
- Fatima Convent came into existence in 1954, as the branch house of St.Mary’s Convent, Salem. The need of that hour was to provide health care to the people in the big branch of Kadagathur.
- In 1968 this mission became an independent house. When a new mission was opened in 1971 at Vimalapuri, Kadagathur became once again a branch house of Vimalapuri along with Bommidi.
- In 1989 once again saw this place as a main house, Sr. Therese Pauline was appointed as the First Superior.
UDHAYAM CENTRE AT SELLIYAMPATTI :
Providence paved the way for a new apostolate in this mission during the year 2018. We have opened this centre to care for the Differently abled children of Dharmapuri District at Selliampatti. We acknowledge generosity of the donor Miss. Savariammal for having donated her land for this noble cause.
